This genuine scallop shell with a barnacle was found ourselves on Aquidneck Island Rhode Island, USA.
The scallop is 1.5" x 1.5"
The cast shell weighs .92 Troy Oz. Sterling silver.
The shell was taken and first cleaned. Then it was pressed into a cold mold similar to what a dentist uses. It was then pulled away and this allows me to fill the impression with wax. The design is then cleaned up and the back of the design is scooped out before casting to lighten the piece. Once all details are complete, the wax is then used in the lost wax casting process.
LOST WAX CASTING
The lost-wax casting process is a method of metal casting in which a molten metal is poured into a mold that has been created by means of a wax model. It is not the dipping of these objects in silver.
The oyster pendant is available in brass, antiqued bronze, bronze, sterling silver, antiqued sterling silver and gold.
This listing is for solid 925 sterling silver.
It's been polished and hand antiqued with an oxidation treatment. The recessed areas are blacker than the raised areas where I have polished. As you wear the chain, it will begin to shimmer more from wear, tailor itself to you and and be less black. If you would like this necklace with no antiquing, convo me, I would be happy to do that for you.
The scallop casting is antiqued black with burnished highlights or antiqued entirely black with the silver coming through over time, or not at all. I have offered some combinations as far as antiquing goes, please choose how you would like it on your way out. :) If there's a way you would like it finished I have not listed, feel free to leave us a note while checking out and choose, Left you a Note. Thank you very much!

In the case of breakage or a lost item, I would choose something as close to possible to what it is you lost or got broken and I will replace the missing item with something of similar to higher value.
Most times, I do need the broken earring to make it a match or the necklace to attach a new clasp. In this case, buyer pays all shipping and small fee for replacement of the parts not to exceed their value.
If something just up's and breaks immediately or due to no fault of your own, I am very happy to correct the situation and I will replace the missing item with something of similar to higher value. I would choose something as close to possible to what it is you lost or got broken. I would rather have my customers pay a couple of dollars to get a handmade pair of earring repaired by me than get upset. I always take care of my customers...
Trade friendly, local pickup if possible.
I am wholesale interested. Wholesale orders would have to be lost wax castings rather than OOAK sea glass creations. With that being said, I can give better pricing if you decide to buy something in a bulk or have me make something that turns out to be a large order.
