STORY OF THE OYSTER SHELL
I gathered the oyster shell myself from Island Park Beach on Aquidneck Island, Rhode Island, USA.
I have nick-named this piece, "I have had it rough" because the prototype went into casting unpolished and that wasn't the plan. I really challenged myself to go for the realism when doing this piece. I worked on it so much it was so close to a carbon copy of the oyster shell I found without making a mold of it. Then, I put some pressure on the thin shell of wax and "snap!" I broke the wax model that goes into casting. I repaired it but didn't polish it because I had deemed it unusable for the casting process. So, I tried again and I took a more artistic license and made a stylized oyster and I polished it so smooth that the back can literally be used as a worry stone. This oyster had to have a name, so this one is named, "I have had it easy," based on it's life story. On a whim, I threw the initial rough one into my casting order and it came out great. Now, I have two awesome and different oysters.
Check out both castings! "I have it easy" could be the right oyster for you, both have such different personalities. All of the castings by Mermaid Tears are created for the customer, so if you have any special requests, questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask.
LOST WAX CASTING
The lost-wax casting process is a method of metal casting in which a molten metal is poured into a mold that has been created by means of a wax model.
The oyster pendant is available in brass, antiqued bronze, bronze, sterling silver, antiqued sterling silver and gold. Please convo me if your interested in other material options and pricing.
This listing is for pure and solid 925 sterling silver and weighs: 18.75 Grams.
The oyster measures 1.33" long x 1.26" wide.
The oysters are polished and hand antiqued in the recessed areas with either a shiny or an antiqued black chain. As you wear it, it will begin to shimmer more from wear, tailor itself to you and and be less black. On your way out, choose if you would like to have your chain antiqued like it's pictured or shiny silver. Please see the picture above with the others. If you want the entire piece without antiquing, please convo me, that is no problem. There are other patinas and they are also a possibility as well.
Comes with a high quality Italian 925 sterling silver diamond cut 1mm bead chain with a lobster clasp. This pendant was designed so the oyster is hung noose style from the chain itself. Looping the chain through the oyster pendant takes around 2" from the length.
This is not exact but approximately your options are:
16" 1mm sterling silver diamond cut bead chain - after the noose style fitting of the oyster, there's 14" of chain left and would be a choker. I would be apprehensive about choosing this option unless you have a thin build and or love chokers. I would recommend the size up if you feel this could be too short.
18" 1mm sterling silver diamond cut bead chain - after the noose style fitting of the oyster, there's 16" of chain left.
20" 1mm sterling silver diamond cut bead chain - after the noose style fitting of the oyster, there's 18" of chain left.
24" 1mm sterling silver diamond cut bead chain - after the noose style fitting of the oyster, there's 22" of chain left.
The way I do these is I have a small base amount of these and I then customize all of the finishing work that needs to be done after casting to the customer. I need a couple weeks to antique (if needed), file, polish and such.
All jewelry comes in hand screen printed recycled paper gift boxes and with as much recycled materials as possible.
Please feel free to contact me with any custom requests, comments or questions, Thanks for looking!

In the case of breakage or a lost item, I would choose something as close to possible to what it is you lost or got broken and I will replace the missing item with something of similar to higher value.
Most times, I do need the broken earring to make it a match or the necklace to attach a new clasp. In this case, buyer pays all shipping and small fee for replacement of the parts not to exceed their value.
If something just up's and breaks immediately or due to no fault of your own, I am very happy to correct the situation and I will replace the missing item with something of similar to higher value. I would choose something as close to possible to what it is you lost or got broken. I would rather have my customers pay a couple of dollars to get a handmade pair of earring repaired by me than get upset. I always take care of my customers...
Trade friendly, local pickup if possible.
I am wholesale interested. Wholesale orders would have to be lost wax castings rather than OOAK sea glass creations. With that being said, I can give better pricing if you decide to buy something in a bulk or have me make something that turns out to be a large order.
